HELLO, BOOK LOVERS!
Guys, I’m bringing this third review to a more serious and snowy atmosphere. Welcome to the world of Detective Harry Hole of Norway in the form of The Snowman by Jo Nesbo.
As one of the top detectives in Norway, Harry Hole is no stranger to a murder case but this time he could be in over his head. With every gruesome murder, Harry finds that the serial killer leaves a snowman as an ode to his work. Unfortunately for Harry and his team, they find these murders go farther back than expected and the intended target of young mothers might not be the only thing the killer is after.
+ One Badass Detective
+ So… much… suspense
+ Unable to guess the murderer
– Too many characters (can make things confusing)
– Runs a little long
It has been a long time since I have read a good murder mystery novel. This is essentially a Norweigan Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with a little less emotional distress. (Those books are intense and graphic). This one is less so and incredibly intriguing. As listed in my Pro’s – I did not guess the killer and I’m all about attempting to guess the ending correctly before it actually happens. I couldn’t do it. In fact, I guessed incorrectly twice! There are many twists and turns, strong description, and a surprisingly likable protagonist. This book deserves to be purchased brand new.
This book is being made into a movie! The Snowman starring Michael Fassbender as the infamous detective is coming out in October. Watch the trailer below! Let me know what you think!
